Lexicon Gallery Studios
15 Lexington Ave., Magnolia, MA
Morning session: 10am-2pm’ish  (10 people)
Cost: $85

The Raku firing technique originated in Japan about 400 years ago with the pot placed in a cold kiln, removed when it is red hot, and placed into a container with combustible organic materials such as newspaper or sawdust. As these materials burn from the heat of the pot, the glaze on the pot reacts to the carbon that is released (and any other chemicals present) to create a beautiful surface.

There will be 1 session with a maximum of 10 people.  First part of the class  will be spent glazing your pieces.  We will be firing to cone 06.

2-4 pieces maximum 6” diameter x 12” height will be fired for each person.  Best kind of pieces to make are NOT flat plates but taller pieces that can be lifted out of the very hot kiln and safely placed into the trash cans.

What we include in fee: Instruction, clay, glazes, firings, snacks and drinks.

What you bring: Please bring  a lunch or breakfast dish to share , your bisqued pieces and a folding chair if you want to lounge at lunch.
